The Smoke Free Illinois Campaign consists of residents, businesses, and organizations who are dedicated to raising awareness in the community about the dangers of secondhand smoke and increasing support for a smoke-free Illinois to protect workers and patrons from the dangers of secondhand smoke.

Whereas:

The U.S. Surgeon General's 2006 report has determined that there is no risk-free level of exposure to secondhand smoke.
Secondhand smoke is the third leading cause of preventable death in this country, killing approximately 65,000 nonsmokers in the U.S. each year.
Secondhand smoke is proven to aggravate asthma and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases in children and adults.

We, the undersigned, believe that we have the right to breathe smoke-free indoor air and that to protect the health of our state, Illinois, workplaces, including restaurants and bars, must be smoke-free.
