ABOUT US
Founded in 2004, Smoke-Free Illinois is a coalition comprised of local groups, health organizations, policy makers and citizens. We share the common goal of creating a Smoke-Free Illinois that is conducive to lung-health. Our goal is to create a Smoke-Free Illinois that protects all Illinoisans from the detrimental health effects of second-hand smoke through smoke-free workplace policies. Creating a Smoke-Free Illinois means:

  1. Supporting Smoke-Free Workplaces.
  2. Advocating for increasingly stringent Clean Indoor Air policies at the local level.
  3. Educating the public on the effects of secondhand smoke by providing up-to-date, reliable information.

In achieving these goals we hope to reduce the instance of unnecessary death due to lung cancer, coronary heart disease, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) associated with exposure to secondhand smoke.

We encourage you to learn more about second-hand smoke from our fact sheets and explore how you can get involved to protect yourself and your family against the harmful effects of secondhand smoke.
